2018 DBNSW Race 2 SIRC 500m

2017 October 08

Naga Spirit attacked the first 500m race of the season, with our usual enthusiasm. 3rd place in both of our very competitive Mixed heats.

Our Men mixed with our friends the Pacific Dragons – a previous combination nicknamed PAGA, placing 2nd in both heats and making it to the finals, but unfortunately no medals this time around.

We had lots of fun and focused on paddling as a team together and finding improvements where we can, especially considering we have some new paddlers who had never experienced racing before. Also had a nice visit from our former coach Winnie!

2017 / September / 02

It started off as a very foggy morning at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, in Penrith. This was the first official race of the season, with 200m sprints, a favourite for many clubs and paddlers.

For our mixed races we fought well with 3rd and 2nd places in the heats but unfortunately may have just missed out on finals.

Naga’s Womens and Mens / Opens crews combined for the first time with Pacific Dragons, nicknaming us PAGA. Our PAGA men with 2nd place in both heats got an invitation in the finals, and although battled their hearts out against very fierce competition, no medal placement. The women’s PAGA crew also place 2nd in both heats, and in the finals scored 3rd place BRONZE narrowly beating 4th place crew by .01 of a second!

Both clubs were very happy with the results on the day, especially considering that we had not trained much together!

NAGA spent a nice day in the sun at Rodd Point racing the Dobroyd Winter Warmer – 200m sprints with 10 paddlers (instead of the usual 20). It was a fun, casual, atmosphere – and we were rewarded with our perseverance training over winter with 3rd Place Bronze Medals for both our Opens (Mens) and Womens Crews!
